Hotel between ferry ports (central) and base of peak ?

Hello,

We are coming to HK soon and will be staying with our Daughter. We are doing the Victoria Peak Challenge which starts at the ferry ports. As the race starts early we would like to stay the night before in a hotel that is roughly half way between the port and base of peak. Any ideas ??

Thanks

Suzi

Hi Suzi, if it starts at Central pier(if remembering-pier#9)- then Four Seasons,

closer to lower peak tram terminus- Mandarin Oriental HK.

Or Landmark MO.

Good luck and happy running in VTP

Hi suziuno,

Look for a hotel in Central, Sheung Wan, Admiralty or Wanchai, and you will be reasonably close to the starting point of the race (Pier 9 in Central). Taxi to the pier would take 10 minutes at most if you stay in those locations.

After the race, you can take the Peak Tram, bus or taxi downhill.

If you can post an approximate budget, the experts here can make more specific suggestions.

Not sure what you want to achieve, and what is considered the base of The Peak. The port (Central Piers actually), and the base of the peak is like only a mile of each other. I looked at the race route map. It sort of zig-zags a bit. If you search for a hotel, if it is at "Central" or "Admiralty", it would work. Can't recommend any particular one without a budget. Their prices vary, depending on grades. The ones at Admiralty are typically higher grade five-stars. There are some more to the economy grade in Central and Sheung Wan (which will be further away from Central Piers).

To summarize what others have said already, the keys to your question is:

1. What is your budget? Hotels in that area tend to be expensive 5*.

2. Do you really need to stay so close to the piers? There are many hotels within 15 minutes on foot or, just a 5 minute taxi ride.

I suggest you to take a place at Tsim Sha Tsui near the pier.

TST might be too far from the starting point though. I would say stay on the Island side anywhere from Wan Chai to Sheung Wan and you won't be taking a taxi ride that lasts more than 5-10 minutes early in the morning.
