Visa on Arrival - How much money is required

Hi,

I am flying from India and will be in HK mid December. I have following documents which i know will be required to obtain a visa. I am staying for one week.

1) Return Air tickets.

2) Confirmed Hotel Reservation Voucher

3) International Debit Card

4) Cash of approx 2000 HKD to start off

5) Will take another 2000 HKD and withdraw from ATM

6) Solo Traveller

I have been to Bangkok wherein i was not asked for any finances, but i had obtain visa before hand. My questions are

1) How much money will be required/checked by Air India Staff before boarding a flight to HK.

2) Are above docs enough to obtain a visa on arrival?

Lastly, its too late to apply and get a credit card, so please rule that option out.

Debit card is widely used these days, as long you have plenty digits inside the debit card. I dont think the immigration ask about your finances unless you appear to be in out of place. They do ask in random but the chances you get clear pretty high

I don't think the immigration check for travel insurance. However, it is advisable to get one for your own protection of course

Also suggest a rough itinerary in hand just in case. This is handy for your own reference as well. Places you intend to visit, things you want to buy and sufficient cash in hand is always the best and effective way for any savvy traveler

Immigration officers use their own discretion and professional judgement in each individual case to decide whether or not to request proof of adequate funds, return tickets etc and that the visitor is a bona-fide visitor and not seeking employment in HK etc. In most cases they don't ask to see any of the things you have listed but you need to be prepared just in case.
