Take the bus. There are bus counters right in front if the customs exit, find the sign for Guangzhou. Cost about 200HK$, takes total 2.5-3 hours. Find out which route based on where you are going inside Guangzhou. Very easy and straightforward.

Second that. Bus is probably your best bet, especially at that hour. Note that there are multiple operators for this route, and each operator offer different drop off points in Guangzhou. It is best to line up the drop off point that is closest to your target (hotel?), and take a short taxi ride from the bus drop-off to your hotel if needed.
