Hotel close to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal

I am departing on a cruise from Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and am looking for a hotel that is reasonably close to the cruise terminal. Does any one have any recommendations please. I have stayed at a few hotels over the years, the standard range I am used to is as follows:

Kowloon Hotel, Panorama by Rhombus, The Salisbury YMCA, The Langham and The Langham Mong Kok.

Anything like any of these but must be within close proximity for direct transport or pedestrian access to the cruise terminal, not simply geographical proximity.

Thank you. B55

G'day B55,

could look at Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees.

or Regal Oriental- close for taxi.

Pedestrian access-will be tough ..if not mistaken even from where it berths, the walk to (say) nearest MTR station-Ngau Tau Kok..is more than 2kms

The cruise terminal in a somewhat isolated location at the end of the old Kai Tak airport runway. There are no hotels within walking distance and the only access is by taxi or by green minibus from Telford Gardens, connected to Kowloon Bay MTR Station. When cruise ships are berthed at Kai Tak the cruise operators port management arrange some free shuttle buses to some MTR stations and other locations.

The nearest hotels are Dorsett Kwun Tong, L'hotel Elan (Kwun Tong), Newton Place (Kwun Tong), Regal Oriental Hotel (the old airport hotel - Kowloon City), Pentahotel (San Po Kong), Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees (To Kwa Wan), Bridal Tea House (To Kwa Wan), Crowne Plaza Kowloon East and Holiday Inn Express Kowloon East (Tseung Kwan O).

There is little real advantage to staying at any of these hotels over the ones you are already familiar with and located in much better surroundings, except a slightly quicker taxi journey to the cruise terminal.

To set up a "must be"... proximity or pedestrian access requirements, is just not understanding Hong Kong. Hong Kong is small, not like other big city such as New York City, or London, or Shanghai. If you get on a taxi, and you can arrive the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal within 15 minutes. Does it really matters? Must be within walking distance?

Solent is, of course, spot on. To cut to the chase, I would say: there are no hotels within really close proximity to the new cruise terminal. You will have to take a taxi anyway. In that event, I would recommend you stay in one of the Kowloon hotels you already know (and presumably like) rather than stay in a second-rate place in an out-of-the-way location somewhat nearer to the cruise terminal.

The eastern half of Kowloon (where the cruise terminal is) does not have much in terms of attractions for tourists (Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden being the big draw in this area, but they can be seen in a couple of hours). I would echo the above and suggest staying somewhere central, like TST and Mongkok that you're familiar with.

I agree with picking a hotel somewhere between Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok along the MTR Tsuen Wan subway line. When you need to head to the cruise terminal, just take a taxi. The taxi fare should be $70 or so + $5 per piece of luggage, certainly affordable by Australian standards.

If, for any particular reason, you need to stay somewhere closer (but not within walking distance as described by others already), L'Hotel Elan would be the best choice based on hotel quality and proximity to an MTR station.

Any hotel located at Nathan Road. From this location you have direct access to almost all places.
