Dentist

Hi, I don't know if this is the sort of thing that trip advisor posters may be able to help with? I have a friend who has recently moved to Hong Kong and has a rare condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa and needs urgent dental attention. Can anyone recommend a dentist in Hong Kong who may be familiar with this condition?

Thanks!

I am no dentist or to be honest i rarely go to the dentist... but i know it varies from one dentist to another on who each of us recommends. Below is a list of links that you can have a look:

Generally to my knowledge is that the Govt one are usually slightly cheaper than the private ones but of course waiting list is quite long and may take a month to be able to book. Therefore is to call the private ones nearby where you live/work and make appointment. Its best to book in advance and ask details for payment as some may only accept cash.

Ask him to contact the NZ consulate. Most missions have a list of reliable doctors/dentists or you even get a personal recommendation from their staff as surely they also need to see a dentist from time to time. http://www.nzembassy.com/hong-kong

There are lots of private dental clinics, you can find them pretty much all over the place, and in most cases you can simply walk in for immediate treatment. Prices vary, my "favourite" dentist (as much as you can like dental care) charges me easily 50% more than the cheapest, but the result of his treatments feels a lot better.

Also specialties vary - many dentists will advertise the specific certifications they have, it sounds like in your case you want to look for one of those specialists.
