Jan/Feb is still the rainy season in Indonesia. Although with the climate change, it is now kind of unpredictable. But you can expect some rain.

Be prepared with raincoat and/or umbrella.

Hi Phiphi,

Yes,, Jan/Feb is the rainy wet season in Indonesia and esp Java.

Hopefully there will be showers for an hour or so and then sunshine.

I have spent a lot of time in Sumatra in Jan/Feb and the weather has been wonderful there whilst my Indonesian friends in Java have complained about the rain.

But as said by the previous poster the weather is as unpredictable in Indonesia as much as anywhere else.

Thanks for the info - it sounds like it will probably be wet but not enough to ruin a vist there?

Being in the tropics, when it rains, it rains big. It usually happens in the afternoons for a short period and then stops. It also is cooler and less sticky during these months. Unfortunately, the open air Ramayana dance at Prambanan temple is only shown during the dry season (May to Oct).
