Amed safe? Boats to Gilis?

Hi

I´m going to Bali from 3th oct to 27th oct.

My itenary is Ubud - Lovina - Amed - Gilis - Lembongan - Nusa Penida - Sanur.

Should i cancel Amed and Gilis due to Mt Agung event?

Are their still boats to Gilis from Amed. I have heard speedboats have been cancelled.

I have booked hotels around. Just wanna make sure if I have to rearrange :)

Thanks, Lars

Hi,

As far as Amed goes I would just wait until you are here and then review the situation depending on how events unfold in the coming days.

I also heard last night that speedboats from Amed to the Gilis were being cancelled, there was no mention of how long for, but boats still are going from Padang Bai, Sanur, etc. The Gilis should be a safe distance from any event in East Bali.

Cheers

Another option is to fly to lombok and go to gili from there, amed and lovina are in the north so book no hotel in those 2 areas for now and wing the rest

Amed is classed as a safe area. During the 1963 eruption lava did not reach Amed but volcanic ash did. However traffic & roads will be affected between Amed & south Bali if the volcano erupts.

Lars, between now and Oct 3rd, things could happened. Please re-arrange your stay in Amed and Lovina. Those areas are closer to Mt. Agung. I agreed with Ekoputranto, it is better to fly from Bali to Lombok. If things get worse, hope you have a plan B.

Keep following the recent news. Padang Bai harbor is considered in Karangasem area although on the south side. If Mt. Agung erupts, it might affect your boat crossing from Padang Bai to Gili islands.

But why rearrange stay in Lovina? Isn´t that fra away from Mt Agung?

How did you intend to travel around? private Driver?

Lovina area should be ok but that isn't the whole Story.

Just bear in mind that Transport could be an issue. You would have to basically come back from Lovina via Ubud.

Nobody can predict if and when anything will happen and how bad it will be and what Areas will be affected. Roads between Lovina and Ubud may become Major evacuation routes.

As mentioned above Keep one eye on the Ferry Situation out of Padangbai

Yes I have a private driver. Througout my whole visit on Bali.

I will start in Ubud then Lovina. Then to Sanur. From Sanur to Gilis? Is that plausible?

I have booked hotels in Sanur instead of Amed just in case.

yes, it is possible just a longer boat crossing from Sanur to Gili islands.
