Planning a trip to Bali shortly. Have always admired the beautiful orchids. Can you bring them back to Perth?, All help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

1. Re: re orchids

i suggest you visit the bali orchid gardens ( close to sanur). they have 'flasks' of orchids which they say are able to be bought into Australia.

Do you happen to know if that also include them being brought back to the UK?

Hi Bill, i would e mail them and ask about the UK. they say most countries allow the orchids to be imported but it is best to check as much as you can with both customs and the orchid garden before you buy.

hi

spoke to defra on this,

for cut orchids, you will get a certificate from the supplier, (bali orchard gardens do supply them) then you have to come back through red at customs in the uk and declare that you have them. i am told that as long as you have a cert there will be no problem with customs

thanks

khlm

these are the requirements for bringing orchid tissue cultures into Australia

. cultures must be in rigid, clear, sealed containers

. no contamination present

. labelled with the scientific name of the plant

. up to 6 containers per person only

. declare on your incoming arrivals card and present to Quarantine for inspection.

You would be best to purchase from a reputable dealer as already suggested.
