beach snorkel

We are planning a visit to Bali in November and would like to do some snorkelling. Having never been, we need a recommend for the best location. I know there are boat trips but is there any good snorkelling from the beaches? A resort on a reasonably quiet beach and not surrounded by discos would be preferable. We were looking at the Novitel in Nusa Dua?

I would recommend a couple of days at Amed or a boat trip to Lembongan Island or Nusa Penida. You won't get much satisfaction from snorkelling at Nusa Dua.

Lembongan Island is a MUST if you want to see the beautiful underwater world of Bali. We did an overnight trip and stayed at the Hai Tide Huts on the beach. It was an absolute highlight of our 15 trips to Bali... also check out Dolphin Lodge, where you can interact with the dolphins for 45 mins... about $85AU. It was amazing... just of the coast of Benoa :)

Amed offers off beach snorkeling. The Bali kembali bungalows were great value for Rp 240 000 a night. Had a nice pool and was right on the beach.

the best we found on our trip was at amed, if you were to stay at kembali it is well located to be able to go straight off the beach with no need to hire a boat if you don't wish

Amed is a quiet fishing village on the east coast. It stretches for more than 10km & is made up of a series of bays/beaches. There are several beaches where you can snorkle directly from the beach. Kembali Bungalows is on one of these beaches, bungalows overlook the ocean, colourful planters on the low white wall seperating the property from the beach, a small beachside swimming pool, spacious rooms, immaculately clean but no TV & fridge if you need them. However there is a shop nearby where you can buy soft drinks, cold water etc. If you're interested in Amed I can suggest other options & tell you the best places to snorkle.
