Hi DianeCdreaming

Most planes at DPS airport taxi right to the terminal and air bridges are used. There may still be some planes that park on the apron but I think this is extremely rare. I have never done that.

We were bussed in when we arrived by Skywest out of Port Hedland a few years back and also when Airnorth was flying into Bali from Darwin.

Not sure whether we will have that occur when we fly with Skywest later this year, but in every other instance over recent years, ie Jetstar ex Perth or Darwin, we have arrived at the terminal and entered via the airbridge.

In January we were bussed to the and from the terminal for both our Virgin flights. This is the first time we hadn't had the use of the air bridge but I have a strong suspicion that the night we left Bali something unexpected happened and this is not usually the case as the whole airport was in a mess with gate changes etc.

They were even boarding our plane from the same gate at the same time as another flight. It was all very confusing and odd.

So to answer you question, you may be bussed to the terminal, yes, as of January.

We were there last weke and were bussed in. we flew Air Asia from Perth. The bus trip quick and easy but a very long wait to get our passports stamped.

Hi DianeCdreaming,

It all depends on where your flight originates from. If domestic flight (let's say you're coming in from Jakarta) you'll most probably have to go down the stairs and scurried into the bus to the terminal. However, lately they have sky bridges, but you still have to walk a fair way to get to the immigration side. Hope this helps.
