Ok, this may be slightly off topic but I hope it's close enough to get past the censors and I'm annoyed enough to give it a try.
So, we are booked to fly PER to DPS in early 2011. We are flying Jetstar and are a group of 2 adults and several children. Because we didn't need baggage for everyone the adults got a booking with checked luggage and the kids only have carry-ons.
Right, so when we book they tell us once we have our confirmations we can organise seating. My wife calls to sort this out once the confirmations arrive. Then they tell us that it will cost $3 per person per flight to ensure that my four children actually sit with their parents travelling on the same flight!
Ok, I understand that they are a budget airline and try to recoup costs anyway possible but this seems ridiculous. Are they really prepared to put several children under the age of 12 (one with special needs) next to strangers and are their flight staff prepared to deal with these children?
I told the wife to tell them to get st*ffed and we'd take our chances (and Jetstar would have to take their chances of getting sued if anything happened) but she'd already paid.
So, has anyone else had to deal with this and has anyone taken the chance and how has it worked out?Edited: 15 September 2010, 05:47
