I think the old losmens and guest houses that still remain in the gangs around Poppies 1 and 2 are really charming and retain the feel of Bali. They are quite safe IMHO.

Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to book them online and the best way to secure one you like is just to go for a wander.

I have looked at many but can't help with the names I'm sorry, hopefully someone will be able to assist there.

Poppies 1 is as safe as anywhere else. Good cheap restaurants and shopping.

Some nice, cheap accom there. The links above show modst of them but the prices are VERY dated.

AP Inn, La Walon, Masa Inn can be booked online (maybe others too). Just google for web addies.

yep we always stay or eat there too and love it.

Yes those prices are very old and double some of them.

Masa inn for example now is about 500 000 and going up for triple...it states 240 000.

Kedins inn is about 300 000 350 000 a night not a week

Kuta Puri is about $70 US a night +

Fat Yogis new rooms is about 380 000 a night.

Still cheap though and a great spot. Out one end to the beach and to Kuta square or Taxi north to Melasti st and out the other end to Bemo corner or to kuta square or walk north to Melasti.

Be aware that most of the real Losman styled accomodation (like komala Indah), do not have Pools.

You're about 10 years to late for $5 rooms.

You may get a VERY basic room for $15. Won't be easy though. Hope you like roughing it.

I used to say in $10 a night accom up to about 7 years ago but decided it wasn't worth it. Not too clean, noisy fan (if any).

For $20 a night I could get a clean basic room with AC, breakfast and a pool.

Things have gone up in the last few years though.

Ah ok, i guess 15 to 20 isnt bad. But i thought indonesia would be heaps cheaper than thailand, in phukt i always get a great room with everything, clean max 25 AUD.
