Have you ever booked airfares separately?

Hi.

We are going back to Bali on the 4th October. I checked out airfares and Virgin has a direct flight to Denpasa for $285 which is really cheap for Adelaide. We have booked to stay in Ubud for the last 4 night (Natura Resort pool villa) and check out is on the 12th October but there is no direct flights on the 12th. Just wondering if I should book the fares to Denpasa and take pot luck they will put on a direct flight for the flight home. Any Suggestions?

Has anyone ever booked this way?

Thanks very much.

I always book my airfares separately. Generally because I fly over from Syd and fly home via Perth to see my son. But regardless I leave booking the return fare until the price and times are good for me. Never had a problem. You DO need to have a return booking though to enter the country. Having said that, they always check when I check in (for flight from Syd) but I haven't been checked anywhere else like when I enter Bali.

on another note ,if u fly lcc ,you do 2 different bookings

. i did perth/bangkok with tiger on 4 bookings saved $300aud

as flying singapore to bkk was .99aud 1 way plus taxes

another one is air asia perth/bali $223 1 way then booked

bali/perth was $73aud instead of $143 seperate booking

my mate did this last week as he is coming to bali with us

another thought to save money .

Yes i did. Book your flight & wait for a direct one to come home. There is normally a direct. Maybe change your return date?

Thanks for that.

I've done it with domestic but not international.

I will book the flight there otherwise I'll be kicking my self if they go up.

Feel better now knowing others have done it. Worst case cernario is the flight home might have a stop. Hope not.

Thanks.

Thanks Hibiscusmum.

Yeah Virgin are the only ones that go direct from Adelaide. Garuda use to.

$280 is cheap one way from Adelaide. Better book.
