Wet season start dates - October or November??

Most travel brochures and many websites seem to say that the official wet season in Bali starts in November. If you look at official rain statistics this backs this up, with heavier rainfall starting November and kicking in December more fully.

All the information however on tripadvisor suggests that the wet season starts in October.

We have booked to go in Ocotober this year thinking we were still in dry season and weather would be good.

Wondering why the inconsistencies and whether there is actually an official correct answer??? also regardless what is October weather usually like from people's experiences?

Thanks

The Wet season does start in October, but you could see little or no rain, or occasional downpours, but so too could you in the middle of the Dry season in Bali. It's the nature of the tropics to be able to get rain throughout the year.

However, as always with a question re rain in Bali, there's always much to do should it be raining.

yes, we were there in December and little rain, friends were there in March and heaps of rain.

We have been many Decembers and loads of rain.

You can never tell, but the humidity probably starts in October.

You will be fine, waterproof shoes and umbrellas and you probably wont need it.

Hi Jk

We were there in October and it rained 3 times while there and always very early in the morning - all dried up by the time we were heading to breakfast at 8.00am.

Particularly in times of climate change, there is no 'official start date' to any weather pattern. After a quite dry 2009/10 'wet season it rained virtually every day through the 2010,'dry season' across the island. Last year, it was mainly clear skies until late December, then a few weeks of total dumping. It can torrentially pour any old time- a few times in the last few weeks, although it's 'dry season' again, so the roads were raging rivers up here.

This island has many microclimates. Last Saturday night was torrential in central Ubud, clear skies here just a few kms north.

Just make your plans and enjoy it as it comes :)
