Flying with Virgin

Hi all, we are flying out of Brisbane with Virgin on the 3rd August and returning on the 11th, has anyone had any issues with Virgin or any tips you might offer. This is my first over seas trip so very excited but nervous as well. How long before you fly should you be at airport. :)

You need to arrive at least 2 hrs before your flight, sometimes they only have one check-in open for all their flights and can be quite a lengthy wait. We arrived at Brisbane airport approx. 2hrs before our flight and had enough time for a cup of coffee after buying our duty free grog. One tip - we purchased Subway at the airport to take on our flight and was the envy of a couple of passengers, even saw some of the crew purchasing Subway was well. The food on board is very limited and didn't look all that appealing. We had not issues at all with Virgin - flight was actaully on time.

We flew with Virgin from Brisbane at Christmas.

Just remember it is a no-frills airline and you will be ok. We have used Virgin plenty and never really have any complaints. Just remember it is a means to an end to get you to your destination.

The padding in the seats can be abit thin at times.

On the plane on the way home there were no digi-players to hire nor any ear-phone points - so no entertainment available, so make sure you take a book! 6 hours is a long time with nothing to do.

The food is expensive and not very exciting, so maybe have a meal before you board the plane.

We always arrive at the airport about 2.5hours before an international flight and this works well for us.

Enjoy your first trip!

Hi Sally, I have flown with them several times, my tip is to take a travel pillow for your neck and my wife likes a polar fleece throw,if the aircon is set low she gets cold otherwise she folds it up and sits on it

cheers john

We take food with us as well. Usually buy a couple of boxes of Sushi each, sandwiches etc. Hip flask of whiskey doesn't go astray.

We travelled with Virgin from Brisbane.

Bring a shawl as it can get cold. Arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time. Bring your own food onto the plane - their food is rubbish And over priced. Buy a few bottles of water once you have passed the security checkpoints OR bring an empty water bottle which you can fill once your passed the checkpoints (there is one near the Cofee Club from memory).

Don't forget the current 100ml liquid restrictions for carry on luggage - have them all ready dot inspection at security.

Most of all, have a wonderful time on your first trip - how exciting!

Oh, and bring hand sanitizer and make sure to clean your hands thoroughly before eating. And being some gastro stop in case you get tummy troubles. Take it easy and don't go all out with food that your not familiar with as that can give you tummy troubles...
