I intend to bring family with my baby to visit Bali, is the area around Sanr/ Ubud stroller friendly?
Thanks in advance.
I don't know how, but you need the smallest possible stroller, with the largest possible wheels, preferably pneumatic, like the jogging strollers.
Footpaths roads aren't the best, nor are they wide, but also, shops and restaurants have very limited spaces. I don't like them at all, and they would be a very hot option, but a baby sling would be the best. Most locals just use a sarong, but obviously this is due to costs and they are used to the heat.
Ubud is very bad, as every 10-20m, there is a stormwater grate or lid, plus it is up and down everywhere. Good Luck!
i have always found sanur the best place to use a stroller and ubud not easy.
I always bought a small 2nd hand fold up lightweight stroller. (around $10 - $20 at a garage sale / op shop etc). One reason was I didn't want to risk my good one being damaged on the plane and most importantly because the stroller was light to lift over obstacles, bad sections of footpath and being small it would fit in most shops, restaurants and in the local markets and it was quick to fold up when using taxis.
yes, I found Ubud was tricky with the stroller (worse than Seminyak/Legian) the wheels got caught everywhere but I didn't want to carry a big and tired 3 year old in a sling! When she could walk it was easiest, so that was encouraged. I just brought a very cheap, light fold up stroller that we could easily fold wherever we went and even though the footpaths were a pain we still could not of managed without it.
I don't think Ubud is stroller friendly. Sometimes the footpath is blocked with scooters or big piles of construction stuff so you have to walk on the road to get around it. Otherwise there are storm drains and cracked footpaths to deal with.
I'd carry your baby in a carrier if you can.
We had no trouble with a stroller in kuta, but really only used for big walks along the beach front.
We bought one from matahari for $50 aus and the hotel said they would store it for us for next trip, but ended up giving it to another family that had just arrived with a tot.
Not a big expense for 2 weeks of no complaining.
Thanks alot for the reply!
Guess i will use a carrier. Just worry about the heat and weight of the baby, as we foresee we will be walking around alot!
Also i know there is a driver list, may i know where to find it?
Pls let me know if you have used some good driver personally.
Many thanks in advance
A carrier is perfect for smaller babies but i would stll bring a lightweight stroller where the back lays down. My girl at 17 months wouldnt sleep in a carrier but sleeps in the stroller. The paths can be a pain but my husband would just carry the stroller over any spots we couldnt push it. Sanur is easier with the stroller. Having the baby sleeping when you are out saves spending most of the day in the hotel room.
