Balian

I am looking at staying at Balian next year and was hoping for any information about what is available in the area, regards food, motorbike hire, groceries and other services. Any information would be most appreciated. We have decided on the Kububalian Beach Bungalows and I would like any information regards these as well.

Cheers

Thanks Rockterrigal, based on your videos etc showing you surfing, how do you rate the suf at Bailan and what do you need to be aware of? Would you suggest taking your own supplies as we are in Kuta before heading off to Balian.

it can get really good. not barrels but long walls. it can get crowded but i have surfed there with noone or very few out. sometimes the early is a quiet surf but at other times it is crowded. just note when most of the crowd go out, give them an hour then paddle out.

hazards -

very shallow on the inside of right, rips

can be strong esp if big. paddle out with the rip which takes you away from the left then when out a bit the rip eases off then paddle to the left.

the water is very murky due to river - dont swallow the water.

supplies -

no need but if you like certain things to eat, stop at the big supermarket at tababan (on main road). it is an experience and very cheap.
