Exchanging Philippine Peso

Hi,

Where would be the best place to change Philippine Peso? We will probably be around the Legian/Kuta/Seminyak area.

We had to change our plans and leave the Philippines early so we were left with a lot of currency.

Thanks

A bank is going to be your only option; PHP is not one of the major currencies that you see offered for exchange in the normal money changers. Pretty sure there's also a 10000PHP cash limit on the amount you can leave Phils with before you start chewing red tape.

Thanks for that.

Is there an area that's best to go to where there are many banks? Should it just be a simple case of going in and exchanging it on the spot?

We have about 18,000 PHP but there are two of us so I assume we should be ok regulation wise.

There are plenty of banks in the areas you mention, and yes just go in. Make sure notes are in good condition and high denomination. Generally money changers give higher rates than banks which is why you don't see recommendations for changing money at banks on this forum. Your other option is of course changing in Phils to something more easily changed, but this means you're hit for two exchanges, but with more options when you get to Bali.

Ok, thanks again.

We won't be back in the Philippines again so we need to change the money. We'll see what kind of rate we can get.

Should we expect to get a low rate in the bank?
