First Time to Bali- Couple Trip 3D2N

Hi all,

Im looking at a budget trip with my partner in coming October 2014.

Need recommendations on the following:

1) Which part of Bali should I stay if im looking at budget? Which hotel/ resort?

( we are not the party-animals, safety is our main priority)

2) Being a first timer there, what mode of transport to get me moving around in Bali will be best?

3) Activities to do there? (Best to be within the area recommended to stay)

4) Any "Dos" & "Donts" over there?

Depends on how long you will be staying. My favourite trips even now are hiring our driver who meets us at the airport and we book the first night. Then we just go north or east and stay along the way, usually booking in as we go. There is way too much accommodation in Bali so much of it is cheap and available. We usually spend around $50 a night, including breakfast for a double, but accom for less is available and still good. For example look at Pajar House in Ubud, around 40 a night and great breakfasts. It is a gorgeous Balinese haven, run by a Balinese family and we loved it so we stayed longer.

Having our own driver gives security and a friendly familiar face every day, That way you can see alot, or spend more time where you like to be.

Your driver can suggest an itinerary based on your interests, we use balipersonal.com and have for many years. He speaks good English and has a late model luxury car.

For such a short trip I would recommend staying at Ubud - it has easiest access to Bali's attractions - other than the beach. There are many drivers on the streets of Ubud more than willing to take you on day trips. If you don't want to travel too far Ubud town offers museums, emples, the Monkey Forest, walks in the rice paddies and cultural dances in the evenings. There is a list of day trips in the "top questions about Bali" list on the right hand side of this page.

Ubud has a huge amount of budget accommodation.

For a short trip pick one location, you can always do a day trip if you want to see somewhere else.

Ubud is a good suggestion, or if you prefer a beach location look at Sanur. The Villa Sari there is a good budget option.

cheers
