bali or koh phangan..m confused plz help

Hi all,

I am confused between koh phangan and bali - to go for my first marriage anniversary. we would prefer nice & beautiful beaches, good scenery and good nightlife for our holiday. we had gone to koh lanta and stayed at pimalai for our honeymoon and it was amazing..while found phuket somewhat overdeveloped for our preference. Read that beaches are more beautiful in koh phangan vs bali..while there are more activities to do in in bali. I am more keen to go thailand again while my wife wants to go to bali since we had been to thailand last year.

i am planning for 7-8 nights..so would split either in koh phanagan/ko Tao or Bali/lombok. please advise which would be a better choice.

If it's just beaches you're after, I think you're better off in Thailand. But Bali has many other attractions beyond beaches, so if it's culture, shopping, great food and dramatic natural landscapes, then Bali is the better bet.

With regard to the possible Koh Phangan/Koh Tao combo... do you dive? Because that is what Koh Tao is largely geared towards. If you don't, you might find it a little quiet with less variety of accommodation types than Bali or Koh Phangan. You should also watch your dates, a lot of things shut down during the wet season in Tao, which usually starts around late Oct/early Nov.

If you did choose Bali, I think you'd find plenty to occupy you without even going to Lombok.
