carved skull / bone

I have bought a carved cow skull in Bali. I researched some forums before I left Oz & people had been allowed to bring them in. I am happy to pay for fumigation if needs be.I was surprised however, to learn from a friend that, theirs was confiscated from hand luggage at Bali airport. I ddon't understand why this would be. Can anyone shed some light ?

Christine is saying it was taken at Bali airport, which does seem rather odd.

It may simply be because it was in hand luggage and not checked.

I brought one from Bali home to Aus with no problem.

I put it bubble wrapped in checked baggage, I declared it and customs in Aus was 100% fine with it, did not need to be fumigated as they said it was clean - they looked at it for a minute, very easy.

(Our skull also had horns which they looked at closely too)

Sorry misread the post, no idea why it was confiscated in bali -could be because it may have been dangerous.(horns)

It obviously needed to be re-united with the rest of its owner!

LOL at tudish answer.

My daughter would be horrified if I tried to bring the skull of a once-living creature as a souvenir home with us
