No go with Travel Insurance :-(

Our trip is booked for December 2014. In the last week my partner had a heart attack and two stents put in (he is only 35 years old). I am not having any luck whatsoever in finding anybody who will ensure him. I don't know what to do now, should I cancel? Should we go but have no cover for pre-existing medical conditions? (my common sense says no!). A little confused and dissapointed....

I am hoping someone on here can help you out Australiana, what a shock this must have been for you all. Their are alot of people who go to Bali with various ailments and pre-existing conditions so their must be a policy you can buy. Is it worth chatting to your doctor as they must come across this. Good luck i hope you can go on holiday.

Sorry to hear that. With pre existing sometimes you need to fill out form and they need to give clearance for cover. However they may not since it is so recent and with a hospital stay so recent. would personally ring all the companies to see if they can help. Sorry not much help. It pays to get your insurance as soon as you book. Hope you find something.

Try Covermore there usually pretty good they cover my hubby for pre existing and he's had stroke and gone blind, and has a few other issues. You can check on-line with them.

I tried Southern Cross, CHI, Sure Save, Cover More and Medibank with no luck. I have emailed a few others but it's not looking good...

Chartis are pretty good with pre existings. Hopefully you'll have some luck with these suggestions, don't get too disappointed too soon, but I think a chat with the GP or specialist might shed some light on your decision.

Hi!

How did you pay for your flights and accommodation? If by credit card, some have "inbuilt travel insurance", which if it applies to you, will be worth reading the PDS and then speaking with the insurer.

Travel Insurance Direct have covered pre existing conditions on previous journeys, albeit at a higher rate.

Another avenue is if you have private health cover, some also offer travel insurance, this may be a line of enquiry for you.

Insurers will often insure a traveller but exclude all coverage for any incident which "may be as a result of the pre existing condition" .

I wish you luck!
