Jakarta and nearby places to visit

Hi,

My husband and I will be in Jakata for 6 nights at the end of November and beginning December, Friday to Thursday. Where besides Bandung, would we have time to visit without too much rushing around. We hope to stay one or two nights in Bandung, also how wet is the weather that time of the year.

Some sight seeing and a bit of shopping with time to relax in between.

Thanks

Hello,

december is usually the wetter months of the year.. The rain usually starts in the evening.. The places that you can go besides Bandung are Puncak and Bogor, especially the Taman safari is awesome.. Just avoid these places on the weekends due to the horrendous traffic jam..

another off the beaten track that you can go for a day trip in Jakarta is Old banten.. It has a good collection of old castles and forts.. Though they are pretty dilapidated, its still an interesting sight and you might have to rent a car to go there..

Cheers

1/ Weather

It's really a heavy downpour when it rains... Thus do not plan too tightly but allow some changes to be made should weather condition is not allowed to visit majority of outdoor attractions

2/ Itinerary

I think what you can do at this point is to draft out the itinerary.

List down all the attractions that you want to visit and work from there by adding more details.

Bandung is known of Factory Outlet. If you interesting with beach or sea activity like snorkelling or just for leisure , you may check Thousand Island / Kepulauan Seribu. They still in Jakarta but you have to go there by boat. You can get the boat from Ancol Port.

Hi all you helpful People ,

Taking notice of advice on wet weather, so will be very flexible with our itinerary. Have decided to spend 2 days in Bandung traveling there by train. So need some advice on train travel Jakarta Bandung.

1) Is there provision for luggage on Train?

2) What are the seatings like and how crowded are Trains to Bandung? Will be traveling Monday and back Wednesday.

3) We enjoy watching countryside sceneries go by, is there any interesting points of interest along the way?

Thanks

No special luggage cabin. You will get an overhead luggage rack for smaller items. Bigger items can be placed at limited luggage compartment behind the seat (at the end of the cabin). Not suitable for bulky items.

Executive train will be in 2-2 configuration. Depending on time of travel, it will be pretty much moderate crowd.

<<3) We enjoy watching countryside sceneries go by, is there any interesting points of interest along the way?>>

Not much to see except when you're crossing the hanging bridge in between hillside nearing Bandung.
