ATMs at Narita Airport

I read that the ATMs are not operational 24 hours a day. We arrive around 3PM on a Friday -- will we still be able to get money out of an ATM in Narita? Are there restrictive hours?

Since many of the banks are closed Saturday and Sunday we don't want to be without money for 3 days!

We landed at Narita about the same time of day, around 3 pm, on a Friday afternoon last April and found the ATMs open after exiting the customs area. Here are a couple of useful links for ATMs in Japan: http://www.citibank.co.jp/en/atm/index.html and http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2208.html. We notify our bank in advance that we are traveling and using the card overseas.

Take a backup funding source. You card(s) may not work for many different reasons. T/C is the best option and will give you the best rate. Cash is going to cost you 1-2% more.

In general, look for a post office and your ATM card(s) should work there, if they are going to work anywhere.
