Chances of overnight sunrise ticket being fully booked?

If I book the overnight train ticket from Kyoto to Tokyo on 9th Feb for 14 th Feb which is a weekday, what are the chances that it is fully booked?

Probably available, but the Sunrise Trains don't actually stop in Kyoto en route to Tokyo.

You would have to alight at Osaka Station (not Shin-Osaka) where it departs each day at 00:32

Thank you for your reply. Actually I meant Osaka but wrongly mentioned Kyoto

If you don't have JR Pass, night bus is cheaper than Sunrise train. Buses are available from Kyoto and Osaka.

A terrible experience unless you pay for a room.

Agreed. Not any fun at all. Uncomfortable, absolutely no privacy, do not plan on getting any kind of sleep. Seriously consider paying for a room on the train.

I have taken the Sunrise train from Okayama to Matsue a couple of times, using a Japan Rail Pass. I made my seat (actually a carpeted platform) reservations about a week in advance, and could not get a seat on my first choice day. I had to go on my second choice day. So it does appear to book up.

When I did the trip from Okayama to Tokyo on a January week night, the nabi nabi seat car was only 25% occupied. So demand is seasonal.

Bedroom supplements (see price attached to each picture) :

www.toretabi.jp/travel/shindai_vol01/01.html

Rates are per person. Twin room 14700 per room. Not too sure about the bunk twin room as different websites provide conflicting prices. Bottom line is it costs more than a budget hotel room.

If you want the free nabi nabi seat, you should bring a sleeping bag or yoga mat, and a pillow.

www.toretabi.jp/travel/shindai_vol01/01.html - This website is in Japanese, how do I get the English version? Since my trip is on a weekday and during the winter period I hope it will not be overbooked. If it is , I will get a normal train but can I get accommodation in Tokyo with just 4 days booking? Should be ok right?
