Osaka: From Shinsaibashi subway station to Castle

What is the easiest way to get to Osaka-Jo Castle, from Shinsaibashi?

Which subway line? Red or Light Green?

Which station to stop? ( with the least walking to Castle) - don't wanna brave the weather

Thanks

Do I have to take the light green subway line, get off at Tamatsukuri, then transfer to JR Loop, then get off at Osaka-Jo Koen?

Is this the correct route?

You can enter Osaka castle park from ALL direction. From Shinsaibashi, Get off at Morinomiya or Osaka business park station on light green line.

Take the light green line and get off at OBP: Osaka Business Park(N21). If you get off at Morinomiya(N20) then you won't see the castle building well from the exit and will end up covering a longer distance, to boot, than from N21, well-signposted around there though.

Once you emerge from exit #1 at N21, you'll find the castle loom ahead across from the river. But on a rainy day you'll want to go to exit #3 and walk through a high rise building: Crystal Tower. From its first/ground floor you'll see the castle located on your right-hand side as you face the exit/entrance of CT. Get to the river promenade from either exit of the subway station and walk on it until you come to a nearest bridge: there's two on this side, one in front of Hotel New Otani, the other at the side of Crystal Tower.

Is it better to get onto JR Loop line and stop at Osaka-jo Koen?

No you'd be better off riding the subway so you'd walk a shorter distance. Coming from JR Osakajo Koen involves walking twice as long a distance as you'd cover from OBP.

Do note that it is still a considerable walk up the hill to Osaka Castle.

Also, the inside of the castle isn't interesting unless you learn a bit about Japanese history in advance.
