Using a bluetooth headset/intercom from Australia in Japan

Hi, we have bluetooth headsets in our ski helmets (purchased from Aldi) which we've used extensively in Oz. We're heading to Japan in January and we're aware that walkie talkies from other countries can't be used in Japan because they interfere with TV transmission. Does anybody know if the same concerns apply to bluetooth devices? From what I can understand the frequency bands are similar with bluetooth though maybe not identical.

There is no restriction on the use of Bluetooth devices. Bluetooth is standardized and pretty much the same no matter what country you go to. Bluetooth headsets, computers, tablets, computers etc are all fine in Japan.

Thanks for the information tokyosubway - much appreciated. Just one further question - the headsets have intercoms as well - as far as I can work out they still use bluetooth technology to communicate with the other headset they are paired to, but at a higher power level so it works over a few hundred metres. Can you see any issues with this?

We have no idea what are the technical specs of your mystery brand/model headset. Also we are not able to give legal/technical advice on your equipment. Simple answer is if it adheres to the published Bluetooth standards https://www.bluetooth.org/en-us/specification and Japanese regulations , it can be used legally in Japan.
