Japan rail pass

Hi

Am searching for info on how to book a pass and which pass to get.

We arriving at Nagoya Chuba airport and want to go to Kyoto for 7 nights

then up to Yudanaka for 4 nights followed by a trip to Tokyo for 5 nights.

And leaving from Haneeda airport.

Should we get a pass or a point to point tickets.

Is it easy to get from Nagoya airport to Kyoto?

And between Nagano and Yudanaka , is it easy to transfer

thanks

No JR Pass pays off as mentioned. A 7-day JR Pass saves you money only if you add day trips within the weeklong window that includes Kyoto to Nagano and Nagano to Tokyo. The combined value of the day trips need to exceed 12,000 Yen or so for the Pass to make sense.

Between Nagoya airport and Kyoto, take Meitetsu train to Meitetsu Nagoya station. You can then either change to JR Shinkansen (40 minutes) to Kyoto, or take Kintetsu train (2.5 hours) to Kyoto. If you use the Kintetsu train, the Kintetsu Rail Pass offers good savings.

If you rearrange your itinerary and travel NGO Airport - Kyoto - 1 day trip to Hiroshima/Miyajima - Nagano within 7 days, 7 day JR Pass pays off.

Thank you for the info, what if I start the pass when I leave kyoto to go to nagano and then to tokyo. Or is that not enough travel. Do you buy train tickets on arrival or can you pre purchase from overseas, I am a bit concerned about the language barrier.

If you don't include Hiroshima as Nao suggested, the Pass won't pay off.

You can buy individual tickets on-the-spot. Trains are usually not full unless you are going during peak Japanese holiday periods.
