Help with a translation card

Hi,

Can someone help me with a Japanese translation of: "Something with vegetables or fish. I do not eat fish" in a polite form :) (Thank you / please). Google translate says : 野菜や魚で何か。私は肉を食べない。Is this correct?

I have searched the forum for vegetarian eating. I am mainly interested in eating Japanese food – I love sushi and tofu. I find most of the vegetarian/vegen suggestions on TA are international cuisine. My experience with travelling is, when you are hungry you just want to find a place to eat wherever you are, so a card would hopefully be good way to communicate. :) I have also looked at many pictures of plastic food and I don't think I will be able to tell when something is without meat.

We are travelling to Takayama for a couple of days - I'm guessing English menus and English speaking people will be hard to find.

Google translate does generally a bad job. Language structures of Japanese and Indo-European languages are so far apart that no computer generated translation software can manage to translate naturally.

I assume you mean that you eat fish and vegetables but not beef or pork or chicken. In that case:

野菜や魚を使った料理をお願いします。牛肉・豚肉・鶏肉は食べられません。

You will generally find plastic menu sample at the entrance of the restaurants. …goo.ne.jp/user_image/34/10/20a7c076f67281ed…

Tell the waiter/waitress which dish you want.
