What gift to give to our tour guide

Hey guys,

Just wondering what an appropriate gift would be to give to our 30 year old male tour guide.

He is a free tour guide and all we have to pay for is his transport and meals. I feel this isn't enough and know a monetary tip isn't recommended.

Can anyone provide an example of what would be an awesome gift.

Something unique or "cool" from your country that is hard to get or unavailable in Japan. A sports team item, a picture book of your country, a "touristy" but nice t-shirt or shotglasses, bottle opener keychain, a unique food/snack item.

Tim Tam and Anzac biscuit seem to be popular items from Australia.

If he drinks, Australian wine might be an idea.

I'm not sure whether kangaroo jerky can pass through the customs, but it could be cool.
