Typhoon Warning

Typhoon "Bopha" is approaching the Philippines, but some way away at the moment.

"Weather Underground" suggests that the Typhoon will be close to Cebu p.m. Tuesday, and in the El Nido area p.m. Wednesday.

Windspeed currently gusting 160mph (250kph)

Looks nasty!

Oh my! I hope this is not another Sendong in the making. I don't know why December typhoons are stronger than the usual wet months of July-Oct.

There is a saying that if a typhoon happens during non typhoon period, the damage is even greater than those typhoon during the typhoon season.

Coming Tuesday and Wednesday will be critical.

When they hit during Amihan season - as with Typhoon Seniang which hit December 9 2006 and wrecked havoc and destruction - they can be particularly nasty. Boracay is more likely to be in the firing line than it is during Habagat season too.
