Romblon Blue Hole--oddly, not discussed much...

Anybody ever been there? Can't find much info about it searching. As it's a blue hole you'd think there'd be more info somewhere. Love to snorkel it some. Just no. of Tablas Island west of Romblon.

Hi. Here's a series of video from the GMA show "Born to be Wild" that featured Romblon's "Blue Hole".

m.youtube.com/#/watch…

I think you can snorkel it if you tag along with people diving it. At the moment there's only one dive shop (Ducks Diving @ the 3P holiday and dive resort, Romblon, Romblon) that goes there and it's the same dive shop that escorted the film crew in the show.

I hope that helps.

Cabanbanan divers used to go there also.

One of the reasons it still is not visited too much, is its location, and like most "blue holes" is not worth snorkeling, due to its depth and lack of anything to see. Due to its depth it is only for AOW divers as the dive is mostly at 40m.

I hope it does not become a big dive destination, as it is not that big, and would be considerably crowded with more than a couple of boats there at a time

I have just requested TA to add Tablas Fun Divers to its list of Filipino attractions.

TA lists some of these operators but declines to list others. A decision may take a few days.

I just came back from diving at the blue hole in Romblon and made a video of the trip. I did the dive with three P's dive school. There's only two dive outfits in Romblon. Stayed at Anchor Bay, one of the best value accommodation I've had in the Philippines. 1,500 a night, not the cheapest I've had, but the standard of what you got for that price was excellent. The dive itself into the blue hole is very good, one of the best dives I've done in the Philippines. We did two dives, the first the current was quite strong and entry to the hole wasn't possible. However, a great drift dive along a fantastic wall can be done. When the tide turned the current dropped and we were able to enter the hole. checkout my blog philippineadventurer.wordpress.com to find out more and see the videos.

@ Steve

Phoenix is spot on - the blue hole at Romblon is meant for divers - starts at 5 meters and drops down to 25 meters. So if you snorkelled here, it would be a lousy snorkeling experience, with you not getting to see much.

For a snorkeller to enjoy him / herself, better places in the Philippines are 100 islands (so many live giant clams that open and shut their mouth while colourful fish pass by - and so many blue thorn coral), Balicasag island / Cebu Nalusuan - Olango sanctuary, Siete pecadoes (purple coral and lots of fish), Apo island (turtles at a depth of 2-3 meters!) and Siquijor.

All the above have fantastic marine life, and lots of live colourful coral.

@ Barrow -

nice blog. I am enjoying going through it.
