Itinerary Advice

Hi,

We're just looking for some advice on where would suit us best to visit during a trip to the Philippines.

We arrive into Cebu and will have around 3 weeks.

We have done a lot of travelling recently so we're just really looking for places to take it easy on nice white sand beaches. Nice snorkeling and the possibility of spotting some marine life would be great too. The less travel involved in getting to places the better. Ideally we'd like to check out around 4 different islands.

We had been thinking Bohol, Boracay and Palawan anyway.

Any tips on whether they would suit what we're looking for? Or are there other islands better suited? Is there a particular order that we'd be best visiting them in?

We arrive in Cebu next week.

Thanks!

Sunscreen can be reasonably expensive in Philippines, unlike many other personal care products. Bring some in your checked luggage to avoid the 100ml/ one litre maximum hand luggage liquids, aerosols and gels pesky rule.

Airline check-in agents are more strict than immigration officials regarding the onward/return ticket requirement.

100ml of 30+ sport suncream in a shop on Alona Beach last week cost 299P (just over £4 UK).

When I am exiting Siargao, they confiscated my sunscreen.

I wonder when did sunscreen is deem as a weapon.

Does anyone knows why?

BTW, sunscreen sold in PH is much cheaper than in Singapore.

Thanks for all the general advice on this. We'll have our onward flight booked and will get our sunscreen there.

What is the weather in the islands around Cebu generally like at this time of the year? Is there much cloud/rain?

Will Holy Week be exceptionally busy? Should be book accommodation well in advance for this time?

Thanks!

In relation to our itinerary we do like the idea of not having to do much travelling. However, would we miss out on anything in picking Bohol, including Panglao Island, Siquijor, Camiguin and Biliran and not going to the likes of Boracay or Palawan?

We don't mind a bit of travel if certain places are worth it, we just don't really want 8 hour bus journeys etc.

If we were to go to Bohol, including Panglao Island, Siquijor, Camiguin and Biliran as Big Jim mentioned what would be the best route to take?

Thanks!

It is usually hot during this period.

Whether is a site worth it, it depends on you. One man's food is another man's poison.

During Holy Week, book in advance as the whole Philippines will be on holiday. So book all your transport and accommodation in advance.

Cebu - Bohol - Camiguin - Bohol - Panglao - Bohol - Siquijor.

Biliran is at Leyte. A little out of the way.

Ok, thanks again. We're finding it hard to get our heads around all the islands!

We arrive into Cebu at 12.15 on Monday afternoon. Is our best option to go straight to a ferry port and head to a close by island? For the first few days in particular we'll just be looking to lounge on a nice white sand beach.

Out of interest, is Malapascua Island worth a visit?

Thanks again for all the help. Once we sort out our first destination we'll be more up to speed!

You can still take the afternoon or late afternoon ferry to Bohol.

Malapascua is my opinion is worth a visit though there is nothing much to do there. It is a diver's place.

Great. Is there any company that we should aim to go with or are they all similar quality and price wise? Does it take long to get from the airport to the ferry port?

When in Bohol where would be a good place to base ourselves?

Thanks!
