Technically you can drive from Banaue to Laoag but it will be a very very long trip. 3 days will not be enough.

From Banaue, you will have to pass by Sagada then to Baguio. This already take a day.

From Baguio to Laoag will be another 8 hours at least.

I would suggest you engage a driver who knows the route very well. TouristDriver is a good fit for this job.

As mousehunt suggests above, you should consider contacting TA member touristdriver as he has now taken many travellers from quite a few countries from Metro Manila to Baguio and Banaue rice terraces. Contact him through an email to arnoldvsanchez@yahoo.com or send a private TA message to touristdriver via this site.

'TD" as he has become known is reliable, punctual, a font of knowledge and is reasonably priced. You have to pay for his accommodation (not always expensive if he obtains a 'driver's rate') and meals, but to me the man is worth his weight in (given that it is Christmas) frankincense and myrrh. He has at least one local contact in the mountains who provides a cheap guided day tour through the terraces. I have used TD on multiple occasions but not to the rice terraces.

yes you can take it for only 3 days if your point of origin was banaue, banaue to vigan travel time was 7 to 8 hours via sabangan, bauko, tadian and cervantes road this rout lead to tagudin in ilocos norte and from there all the way to vigan, vigan laoag travel timeis just only 2 hours or less 190 kms .and from laoag you can take a domestic flight bact to manila rather than by car for 12 hours drive laoag to manila

@ j0ey2008 why are you resurrecting all these old threads? OP has been and gone in Feb 2014.

There was a shortcut way from Banaue to Vigan then to Laoag. From Banaue it will take you 8-9hrs passing to Bontoc Mountain Province, via Tadian Bissang pass, Cervantes and out to Tagudin then to Vigan. Now Laoag is very close. Here you must be familiar to the road there are a lot of sigzag but it has a nice scenery on the way round. Expected that 98% are pave road.

Another way around but its a little bit longer. From Banaue to Baguio via San Fernando La Union and to Vigan then to Laoag City.

ask to T A whose among tourist driver in mountain province having a regular tour in banaue who often done this tour. as for other advised passing to baguio was quite long that was the old trend you might passed to sabangan, bauko, besang pass all the way to suyo ilocos sur leads to tagudin in ilocos its just only take 7- 8 hours of driving. IF your driver was very familiar to this routing if not maybe it also takes a bit longer than 7-8 hour of driving
