Banaue trekking - something easy?

Hello,

we are going to Banaue at the beginning of March, just for 2 days (1 night) and we would like to get the most of it, however, I am not much of a trekker - any suggestions for easy trips, please?

If you prefer seeing places without a guide the rice terraces are easy. The viewpoint at Banaue is accessable by a trike then you can if you want walk down through the terraces although I would prefer to go from Banaue to Batad the same day and spend the night there, this could be a problem but hopefully you will have found somewhere in Manila to leave your luggage or the place you have your breakfast as they will then get your custom for your evening meal before the bus back. If you go into one of the more popular backpacker guesthouses for breakfast they will tell you when there is a jeepney to the saddle ( the jeepney will leave the main road and ascend up to the top of a hill and you need to find out when a jeepney to the saddle is leaving and from where - )and from there its a fairly easy 40 min walk into Batad firstly down some stairs for a short while, not difficult then a walk on a path on the flat. there are some simple guesthouses there.

It's very doable for a non-trekker. We saw most of Banaue's terraces on wheels. We hired a tricycle for the afternoon, and the driver drove us from terrace to terrace up the mountain, and at each stop we would get out, walk down the terraces (they are steep!), take photos etc. I'd recommend making some time for Batad. That would require a bit of hiking, but the terraces in that area are incredible, and you can also hike to Batad's Tappiyah Falls. We did Batad without a guide - the trail is very clear, and you can go at a slow pace. I think even a non-hiker can handle it. The distance isn't too bad, it's just a lot of climbing and descending steps. But the views make it worth it, it's such a pretty hike. Here are a few of our photos from Banaue www.bucketlistbums.com/banaue-the-philippines and Batad www.bucketlistbums.com/batad-the-philippines to give you an idea. Enjoy your trip (we went in March this past year and the weather was perfect!).
