Marawi City: safety

Is it safe to travel from TA member bobinnewyork's favourite city of Iligan City the relatively short distance south to Marawi City, the latter being in the Muslim Autonomous Region of Mindanao?

Is Marawi City regarded as virtually 'completely safe'?

10. Re: Marawi City: safety

I have been to Marawi City (about 4 years ago) and stayed there for 2 days through an invitation of a friend who is a resident there. Even the people I met are very curious and surprised that I am touring their city and I would say that they are extremely hospitable to their visitor. I would say that if you don't know anyone in Marawi or if you don't intend to hire a local guide I would say that you defer visiting Marawi.
