El Nido resorts

Hi all,

We are a couple going to our honeymoon in October to the Philippines.

We plan to stay for about 5 days in one of the El nido resorts but we don't want to book ahead since we will be visiting other places as well and don't want to limit our selves (if we don't enjoy a place we would like to have the flexibility of moving on).

Accordingly, is it wise not to book ahead one of the 3 El nido resorts and booking 1-2 days prior arrival in October? are they likely to be full beginning-mid October or there should be availability?

Will prices be higher or maybe even lower in such case?

Your help is appreciated...

October is low season in Philippines.

How are you getting to El Nido - ITI expensive direct flight ex Manila, or commercial flight to Puerto Princesa then a six hour bus trip?

Thanks for the quick reply, we still haven't decided yet but we are going to arrive from Boracay so via Manilla anyway probably...

Does it matter or change things regarding the issue discussed?

IF your planning a hotel at the center of El nido be aware that the main transportation in El nido is tricycle and you can hear the noises of the trikes as you sleep..I will recommend you to get a hotel or cottage at the resorts in Las Cabanas beach .its about 10 minutes trike ride from el nido center but its worth the tranquility and silence. the only disadvantage is you have to pay 150 pesos evrytime you want to go to the center. But the great advantage is you can enjoy a very beautiful scenery whole day without so much Brooom brooom broom in your ears.I think you have to call or e mail the resort 2 weeks or a week before you arrive but dont you worry its not a peak season i guess El nido will never get short of accomodations at that time.

@ Forz

1) It is best to book in advance - the reason is simple - the 3 resorts operated by El Nido Resorts are on secluded islands - to reach them and then book, you will need to hire a separate boat which will cost you 1000-2000 pesos.

2) Only chartered flights of ITI ply to El Nido. ITI flights have a discount rate if you book through El Nido resorts.

The other way to reach is tedious - taking a flight from Boracay to Puerto Princessa (not sure if there is a direct one) and then a 7 hour bus journey (+ waiting 1-3 hours for the bus) ... and then arrangign for aboat to take you

3) El Nido resort packages include it all - including boat ride to / from the airport to resort.

Hence if you plan to stay at El Nido resorts, best book in advance. It will give you max value for your money and make the trip more relaxed.
