First time in Boracay - need hotel recommendations

Hey guys,

My partner and 1 are a young couple looking for a place to stay in Boracay in March 2013.

We have been to phuket so I guess we want somewhere along the lines of 'not right in Patong, but a close enough walk'

We are hoping to get somewhere around a $100aud a night, that does a good buffet breakfast, is on/across the road from the beach.

Alot of the places I have looked at are quite expensive for relatively bland looking accommodation.

So any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

PS tough question, would you recommend Station 1, 2 or 3

PPS My partner likes the look of SpiderHouse Resort, is this really far away from the hub of Boracay, resturants and bars?

Spider House is in a secluded location on Diniwid Beach. Personally I love it but it's quite a hike to the bars and restaurants on White Beach. Angol, south of station 3, is relatively peaceful and chilled but still accessible to restaurants and nightlife.

Holeighaus

Boracay is a lot more compact than Patong. You will enjoy Boracay a lot more.

You can stay at 3 Stations which are located on the beach. So depending on what you are looking for:

Station 1 Upmarket and reasonably quiet

Station 2 Party area and noisy and located close to DMall

Station 3 Budget oriented and a lot more quiet

www.asiatravel.com is one site with a reasonable number of Boracay hotels. By adding roughly 25 per cent to the initially displayed price (for fees and taxes), you can determine what the approximate final price is. Compare the ;price to TA ratings to get a good idea of which are the best value.

With TA ratings, pay little attention to once only reviewers. Look for reviewers who have submitted at least 10 TA formal reviews: try to establish what the 'median' (middle) opinion about each hotel is: this will typically be written by fair minded TA members, who are neither wildly critical or engaging in fawning praise.

The best exchange rate for cash is at moneychangers such as Edzen and Sheena in Ermita, near Manila Bay in Metro Manila: you might get about P42 to each A$1 at present. Boracay rates will be less: perhaps sirenna could advise us tomorrow.

Looks like Station 3 might be the way to go then.

I had a look at Niu Ohana and Angol, we are probably looking at something more upmarket than that.

Pref 3/4 Star, We will pay more for quality/beautiful accomadation.

Any other suggestions?

forget international agents for Boracay and if you will use an agent go with myboracayguide or WHL, both local and agents on island and both with good rates. .

#7, more upmarket than what? Angol is an area, not a resort. There are both budget digs such as Orchids and high end resorts such as Asya or Boracay Ocean Club.
