there are shuttle boats that leave every 15 mins or so. You get a hotel by going on a website or you walk around asking if they have any rooms or you get approached by a tout who takes you to a hotel, this is not an xhaustive list as some people check out tripadvisor reviews !

No shortage of boats. Just get on the next available one.

The staff at the pier will assign you a boat and once you reach Boracay, get a trike to bring you to your hotel,

Note that most probably you have to walk to your hotel as no trike is allowed on beach.

NOT GOOD ADVICE>>>approached by a tout who takes you to a hotel,

You will end up in some crap hotel who charges you more than you should pay as they have to pay the tout a commission. Usually, also, the better hotels do not use touts as much as well. Hotels will the most empty rooms tend to use touts and those hotels have empty rooms for a reason. Stay clear of touts.
