Local Cebu Food Dishes?

I just realised I never thought of asking this before.

But has Cebu got some sort of native food dishes that one should try while there?

Like how in Iloilo they have Batchoy, anything like that in Cebu?

Perferably something non-seafood too as I'm allergic :p

Cheers

Hi Mokong

Ifi where you i would try the BBQ, because cebu is world famous for it.You could go try Tsibogs, Neo Neo at Mactan near the old bridge or Larsian Park or sometimes called Fuente BBQ Plaza, don't worry about what it looks like for sanitation, but i ahve eaten there many times and never gotten sick, do't forget to wash it all down with a cold SanMiguel Light.

Enjoy

Alan

If you are in Cebu, you must try the following:

Cebu's lechon - roast pork

Cebu's mango - dried mangoes and have a mango shake

As recommended previously you should try the grillers like AA Barbeque, NeoNeo, Cheaverz. As for restaurants you should dine at Golden Cowrie or Pino Filipino Restaurant.

i suggest you try to eat the following:

ngohiong - coated spring roll w/ chili sauce

ginabot - deep fried pig intestine (sounds yucky but tastes yummy)

lechon - roasted pig :)

siomai sa tisa - dumpling w/ chili sauce

lambay - salt-water crabs (too bad though coz you're allergic)

danggit - local dried fish

all these viands must be eaten together with

puso - hanging rice

hello Mokong, you should not miss those sidewalk establishments called Sutukil (shoot to kill)..

they feature fresh seafood. you take your pick from the ones available and tell them how you want it served. they cook it right there and then!

the last time we were there, me and my husband had loads of buttered shrimps. the price is really cheap as compared to the city. :)
