4d/3n in cebu city/mactan...

I'm travelling to Cebu during the beginning of Sep for 4D/3N. Will 16,000 pesos be enough for hotel, food and a bit of shopping.

I love spicy food, any recommendations which restaurant or food joint must i patronise? Lastly, i love flea markets...any idea where i should go? Thanks in advance.

16,000 pesos per head would be enough if you book a 3,000-4,000 per night double room in a hotel. Cebu is know for its "lechon" (whole roasted pig). Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain said that lechon is the best pork ever --> …travelchannel.com/read/hierarchy-of-pork…

Hotel food and a bit of shopping for me and a companion for 4d 3n would cost me about

P2100 hotel (3 x P688)

P2000 other (4 x P500)

P5900 eating out for 24 nice meals, including drinks.

(2 people x 3 meals x 4 days)

---------------------

P10000

My actual costs for Living in Cebu City are

- P60000 per month in living mode

- P100,000 per month in holiday mode.

I don't eat spicy food either so I can't help there.

For flea market, try the historic carbon markets and surrounding area, in the Downtown area. You can go for a ride on a Tartanilla (Calesa) while there. A Tartanilla is a horse drawn carriage.

For live music

- Try the Sunflower disco.

They have live music every night.

- For a "pub", try Badgers

http://www.badgerspub.net/

They have live music several nights per week.

- If you want to go where the well to do Filipinos go, try the Wine Shop

http://thewineshopcebu.com/

They have live music most nights

One of my favourite places to dine is the Sandtrap

Dining by the pool at night is very pleasant.

Spicy Food can be found at most all restaurants. You can search here on TA for best restaurants in Cebu and Mactan.

They are many markets on Mactan Island and also in Cebu City. I would suggest Lapu Lapu City Public Market, and also Carbon Market in Cebu City.

You will not find many pubs that offer Metal/ Hard Rock Music. Its not a big attraction here in Cebu. You can find some of the local places with young crowd that will be playing that type of music. But none i would reccommend.

You could try the Pump Disco in Cebu City. They have more younger crowd and play more of that type of music.

Some of the must try foods are Crispy Pata, Large Tempura Prawn, Sizzling Shrimp Gambas, Sizzling Sisig.

You guys are the best! Approx how much is the cost for a couple room in a mid-standard hotel per nite? Transportation wise, advisable to take taxi or jeepney? i hate and dislike being offered flat rates like how bangkok and kl drivers are always not using meters. Even so the meter is on, they will go extra miles for short destinations...always experience that in bkk.

To give you an idea about hotel prices click this --> http://asiatravel.com/cebu.html

Regarding taxis in Cebu I would say that taxi drivers in KL or anywhere in major cities in Malaysia are far worst and to some extent Cebu drivers are less notorious than in Bangkok and even Manila. You will have problems when you are going to an isolated resort in Mactan at night. I experienced it every time I am booked in a beach resort in Mactan but when I am staying in downtown Cebu City I have no (if not little) problems taking a taxi back to my hotel even after midnight.
