Before you decide, you need to understand that there is a Cebu City, a Cebu island a Cebu province and a Metro Cebu.

Cebu City is the capital of the province of Cebu and is situated on the main island of Cebu.

The province of Cebu consists of the main island of Cebu and 167 surrounding islands. The other main islands in the province of Cebu are the Camotes Islands, Bantayan island , Malapascua island and Mactan island.

Mactan island is the location of the Mactan Cebu International Airport, Mactan island is joined to the main island of Cebu by two bridges. The bridges cross over from Lapu Lapu City on Mactan island to Mandaue City on the Main island of Cebu.

Metro Cebu consists of 4 main cities, they are Lapu Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City and Cebu City. The best shopping, entertainment and accommodation, in my opinion, is all contained within Cebu City.

For things to do in or from Cebu City, you could

- Watch a movie on the huge screen at the Imax Theatre in SM Mall

- Go to kart zone and ride on the Go Karts

- Go to the Sky Experience Adventure

- Go to the Amusement park in the reclamation area

- Visit Crocolandia

- Go for a picnic at a water park such as Tubod Flowing Waters, Villa Terisita or Aqua Cainta

- Go swimming with whale sharks at Oslob

- Go for a day tour to Kawasan Falls

- If you will not already be spending time on Bohol, you can see the main sights in a day tour from Cebu City. You can go for a day tour to Bohol and go swimming underground in the Hinagdanan cave, visit the Chocolate Hills and do a lunch cruise on the Loboc River

- Pay to use the facilities of a beach resort, for the day, on Mactan island

- Tour the Metro Cebu historical sites dating back to 1521

- Visit a guitar factory on Mactan island and see guitars being made.

- Go diving from Mactan island

- Take a day tour to Moalboal to go diving

- Island hop the small islands near Mactan island

- Take the Bojo river Eco cruise.

mynomadichabits.com/2012/11/bojo-river-alogu…

- Go to a cock fight

- Gamble in one of the 3 casinos in Metro Cebu

- Go ten pin bowling with expats on Wednesdays

- Go running/walking with the Cebu hash House Harriers on Saturdays

http://cebuhash.org/

- Go drinking at one of the numerous expat bars in Cebu City

- Dance the night away at one of the numerous discos and night clubs.

- Go shopping in a mall or spend some time hunting for bargains in the Downtown markets. Cebu City contains some big shopping malls. SM Mall in Cebu City is the 18th biggest mall in the world.

There are many couchsurfers from Cebu and maybe at least one of them would be willing to tour you around or willing to accommodate you if you contact them.

am defo looking for the cheapest accommodation

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The cheapest accommodation is about P200 per night in a rat trap in Downtown Cebu.

My suggestion is that you take the second or 3rd cheapest cheapest accommodation.

Here is my list of budget hotels/pensionne houses in Cebu City

Metro Park has rooms as low as P800 and it has a swimming pool. It is probably the best value.
