Overnight stay in Singapore, what shall we do?

Hey guys,

We are a couple in our 20's staying in Singapore for one night from about 3pm until 9am the next day, was wanting to at least do something when we arrive to make the most out of our quick stop over, I was wanting advice on something to do for the evening and when we need to be at the airport for our flight. We are on a mid-high budget, don't want to spend more than $200USD a night on accom and dinner isn't an issue.

Would love to hear of some advice on what to do :)

Hi mate,

Try to stay in town if possible, hotel like Carlton would be a good base for your short stay. You can explore Orchard at night for good quality shopping and during daytime, spend 1-2 hours in Chinatown followed by a bum boat ride on the Singapore River exploring Clarke/ Boat Quay and Marina Bay Sands. Have dinner/ satay at Lau Pa Sat etc.

Try to avoid major attractions like zoo / night safari as time is really limited.

Unfortunately, Singapore's accommodation is expensive.

Trust this is pretty doable / comprehensive for a short stay

hi you may consider this option

Are you joking ! There's absolutely loads to do !

you will wish you were there for longer !

We stayed for three nights and then for ten in Bali , we wish it had been the other way round !

Night safari, supper at raffles, orchard road, there while the grand prix is on ?,

Shopping centres, get a suit made in a couple of hours, have time to spend on sentosa island, loads to do, theme parks, the lion, the tiger beer ride, cable car ride across the river, see the monkeys from shangri-la rasa sentosa resort and the peacocks. The aquarium, phew, there is more !

Enjoy !

agree with above, what a great place singapore is.we stayed for 8 nights and will be back.for 1 night i would stay in the marina area and explore that area, maybe a ride on the flyer for some great views.the better hotels are expensive though.

its only a fairly short taxi ride to airport.enjoy

Hello! You may consider my option on the list

- check-in in a hotel in Chinatown like Hotel Re! An retro style of feel.

- if you like coffee you should try out Forty Hands@ Yong Siak Street just 10 mins walk from Hotel Re!

- Do visit out iconic building MBS (Marina Bay Sands), Clarke Quay for some chill out or for last minute shopping do drop by orchard road.

- For dinner i recommend Lau Pa Sat, Newton Circus as well as Adam Food Centre.

I'd also vote for spending time at Clark Quay, perhaps Marina Bay as well. See links (w/pictures)

Hope this is helpful. Have a great time in Singapore.

If you want some nice Marina Bay Sands views and don't mind spending a bit for the view, you might want to try the SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands as well. And at least take a look at their very nice pool! ;-)

I agree with the suggestion to eat at Lau Pa Sat in the evening. The food is fantastic - you can have satay from the stalls on the street from about 6pm as well as food from the outlets inside. The other hawker centre we like is Gluttons Bay on the Esplanade - not at much choice as at Lau Pa Sat but it is lovely to be near the water.
