Honeymoon trip Malaysia and Singapore

Hi everybody

My wife and I are planning a Singapore-Malaysia Honeymoon in December 2013. Travelling from India.

Ideally the trip should get over in 8 days. We are trying to make this trip a bit leisurely, not too cramped.

I have a basic Itinerary as follows:

2 Days in Singapore

1 Day Sentosa Island

Fly to Kuala Lumpur

2 Days in KL

1 Day in Genting Highland

Fly to Langkawi

2 Days in Langkawi

Head Back to India

Now my questions are as follows:

1. What is better? Sentosa Island or Genting Highland? (Not interested in Universal Studios)

2. In KL I have earmarked the following spots to visit:

a. Batu Caves

b. Petronas Towers

c. Bukit Bintang area

d. Chinatown

Are all these places must-see? Can I skip any? Any other additions? Is two days enough to cover these?

3. As I mentioned earlier, we want the trip to be relaxed. So is it worth cutting either 1/2 days and adding it to Langkawi at the end?

Any other suggestions are most welcome

Thanks!

Hmm, you have three days in Singapore, so by definition this maynot be leisurely if you want to see a lot. If you go in a leisurely fashion the list of things you can see will be short (my must see list, for example, takes 7 days and thats the must sees, not everything I want to visit). Since there's no way you can see the all the major must sees I recommend that you do not even try - keep leisurely in mind and do things with enough time. Things will still be cramped though as you are visiting 2 countries and three locations in 8 days. My first recommendation would be to cut things down and spend more time in the locations to give them the attention they are worth, or to get closer to it.

I am slightly concerned that you also seem to be treating Singapore and Sentosa as separate stays - Sentosa is an island but it is 300m of the south coast of Singapore and can be reached from the city in 10minutes by taxi or 30minutes by public transport so it really isnt a separate place - nor if you want to be leisurely does it really justify moving hotel between the two if you intend that.

Genting and Sentosa are completely different locations with different aims and styles - like apples and oranges which is better is which tastes nicer to you....

..and congratulstions on the event necessary to make this trip!

Congratulations. For Malaysia you should read the pages for that country and see what others have said about those sights. Genting is only interesting if you like casinos otherwise not worth the hike up there.

Sentosa has many sights other than USS. Please do read up on it to decide if you want to spend time there. Otherwise plenty in Singapore to occupy your short time here.

Finally some unsolicited advice: if you only have 8 days consider covering only one country? There is lots to do in MY besides KL and Langkawi and all the traveling between Sg and MY will eat up a bit of your precious time.

I would suggest you to keep a minimum of 4 days in Singapore. I would suggest you to delete Genting.

You should start with Langkawi (2 days), Kuala Lumpur (1.5 days) and end with Singapore (4 days). Or if you want more of leisure, then just keep Langkawi and Singapore.
