1st Time Which Form If Public Transport?

Hi there

We are staying at Park Hotel Clarke Quay for only 3 nights in Sept and wonder what the best form of transport would be?

We don't want to waste time trying to work out bus/train times and going out of our way due to our short stay.

We haven't any transfers booked from the airport and was going to just get a taxi.

Any advice offered would be appreciated.

Hello, from airport to your hotel you can take a taxi (roughly S$25-30) or take the airport shuttle (S$9 per pax).

To visit the city the best way is the MRT. It is fast, reliable, cheap and will bring you to most of the sightseeing sites. MRT is extremely easy to navigate. Clarke Quay station is the closest station near your hotel. You may consider buying an EZ-Link card or use regular tickets for MRT.

For remote sites like the Zoo, the Changi chapel, ... you may take a taxi, there are all metered taxis so no haggling.

Hello,

The MRT system is excellent and easy to use, especially if you get an Ezylink card (swipe on and off for MRT trains and buses), but if you don't want to bother then taxi might be your best option for getting to the sights and back to your hotel.

Taxi from the airport is most expensive, and quickest. Another option is the Airport Shuttle. No need to book weeks in advance. Whichever terminal you arrive at, just go to the Ground Transport Desk (after baggage claim) and tell the staff the name of your hotel. It costs SGD$9 per person. Excellent, efficient service. You might be asked to sit and wait for 5-10 mins for the next shuttle, and you will be dropped off right at your hotel driveway. Shuttle mini van isn't usually full, but maybe a couple of other people may be dropped off before you (depending on where their hotel is). You should be at the hotel within 25-35 mins.

And to add to what both Denise and huow have said, there is no need to work out schedule/ time for public transport here in Singapore. For taxis, you can just flag by the road or at designated taxi stands. Or if you are at the hotel, get them to call one for you. For buses, just wait at the bus stop for the bus. If you miss the one you want, then just wait for the next which should come along in about 10 minutes. And for the MRT (trains), during peak period the frequency is every 2-3 minutes and during off peak it is about 6 minutes.

No worries about transport here.

Hope this helps....

Here is a link to the MRT map, you can also download it: http://www.smrt.com.sg/Trains/NetworkMap.aspx

I am not aware of an exhaustive bus routes map. Used to know a link to a partial bus routes map but the link doesn't work anymore :(

Hi Simon,

This is our MRT network map

publictransport.sg/content/…

This is a street directory of the Park Hotel

streetdirectory.com/sg/…45808_144373.html

Alternatively, you can do google map.

And lastly, this is a handy tool to have to help you plan your trip. It shows the various mode of transport, the estimated fare and the estimated travel time between 2 points.

Hope this helps...
