2 days in Singapore-is this a good itinery of mustseesights

Hi!

Myself and my aunt are taking an overnight sleeper train from KL to Singapore in January. We will be staying in Singapore for 2 full days and 2 nights. We arrive at around 7am on a Tuesday and will proceed straight to our hotel the Park Royal on Kitchener Road to drop off luggage, refresh, have breakfast then set out to see and pack in as much as we can in 2 days.

We are not really too bothered about shopping or seeing shopping malls, the only shopping we'd be interested in would be to buy something unique that you can't get in a shopping mall. Just want to see the best sights in Singapore.

I have researched on the forums and have a rough idea of things to see and do but would appreciate any advice or tips to help try and pack in as many must see spots as we can in 2 days.

My plan is:

Day 1

after breakfast head to Singapore Zoo and spend a few hours there.

around 3pm head to the Botanic Gardens and the Orchid Gardens.

around 6pm head to Gardens by the Bay - this closes at 9pm

see the light show at 11pm - i think this happens nearby to the gardens by the bay?

is this too rushed for 1 day? should we do Gardens by the Bay on day 2?

Day 2:

Jurong Bird Park

Singapore Flyer - is this best to book in advance online or buy tickets on the day?

River cruise - read reviews of cruise trips that last an hour, are they worth it and wheres the best place to buy tickets?

want to see the Merlion statue and the Helix bridge by night - should we do this on day 1?

is it worth going on the cable car ride up to mount faber just for the views??

I don't think we can pack any more in in 2 days without rushing.

Please can someone help advice if above sounds like a good plan or if we should re-jig the order at all?

Also I've read about getting an EZlink card for travel which is cheaper than buying single fare rides on the metro - is this correct?

Is there anything else anyone would recommend seeing or not seeing??

Many thanks in advance for your help!

K

Your Day 1 looks OK as long u are able to get transport on time. It is tiring but will be a fruitful day. After Gardens by the Bay, u can use the link bridge to walk across to the Marina Bay Sands and get a scenic view of Singapore skyline. Visit the Casino also and should not be crowded if u visit on a weekday night in January.

Helix Bridge should be on first night as u can walk to Marina Bay Sands via the link bridge at Gardens by the Bay. Merlion will be further down, if u are young, just take a stroll down to reach it. On the way, u can also see the magnificent Esplande and pass by the hawker street also.

Singapore Flyer can be purchase cheap if u visit deals.com.sg or others but only if there have a deal. If not, u may purchase it here as sometimes there are promotions tie up with other attractions. Usually there will be river cruise plus the Singapore Flyer. Take it at 7PM to view both the day and night at one go.

With only 2 days u will missed the Universal Studio Singapore, which is a must visit. This will take one full day and best on Saturday as there are Hollywood Dreams Parade and Fireworks.

EZ Link Card is cheaper and should be bought if u are coming back again. Or ask for the tourist pass Card, staff at RoyalPark hotel or the nearby station at Farrer Park will be able to help u.

The light show is happening at 8PM and 930PM at Marina Bay Sands. Check with the reception to see if there is any changes to the timing when u visit it. U can return back to hotel at 11PM to recharge for your next day.

Hello dreamcatcher786,

I would tweak you itinerary as such.

Day 1 Jurong Bird Park instead of the zoo. The bird park is smaller as compared to the zoo so you would be less tired. Follow this with Botanics Gardens/ Orchid Gardens. Have an early night.

Day 2 Start early for the zoo. Follow this with Marina Bay. You should get to Marina Bay around 4, then you can stroll around Garden by the Bay, cross over to Singapore Flyer, and then walk back to MBS via the Helix Bridge to catch Wonderful light show at MBS Promenade. Take a river taxi across to Merlion Park before getting on the river cruise, a forty minute Bumboat ride around the Bay and up to Clarke Quay. You can take the MRT NE line from Clarke Quay back to your hotel.

I would not buy the EZ link nor the tourist pass as you do not take MRT that much. The places you want to go ie zoo, bird park and botanic gardens are best going by taxi. Just buy the standard ticket as and when you need it.

My $0.02. Hope this helps.

6. Re: 2 days in Singapore-is this a good itinery of mustseesights

Hi

Amended our itinerary as below, please can you advise if I have listed things in correct order of flow and if my timings seem realistic or do-able?

Day 1

Arrive 7am

Leave hotel at 9-9.30 for botanic/orchid gardens -take taxi

Have lunch at gardens

Leave botanic gardens at 3pm head to gardens by the bay by taxi

Walk around and Do flower dome and cloud forest

7pm watch the light show at super tree grove. Assume it will last about 30mins? Is this free?

7.30pm Walk over link bridge (is this the helix bridge?) to marina bay sands

8pm watch the light show

See the casino and mall and the lv shop and underwater tunnel

What is the twg gondola ride?

9pm Find somewhere for dinner in the mall? Or get cab to little India for dinner

Day2

Get to the zoo at 9am

3pm leave zoo and head to the raffles hotel just to have a look

Walk from here to the Singapore flyer and buy ticket for 4pm ish

5pm Get river taxi to merlion park-roughly how much will this cost?

6pm Get a river cruise -is this a round trip and ends up back at merlion park?

Or get a river taxi to Clark quay?

7pm Walk to Chinatown see the cny lights etc

Dinner and cab back park royal Kitchener road.

Could anyone advise how we could fit in haji lane, which I've read is near Arab street and the sultan mosque into the above itinerary?

Many thanks!

7. Re: 2 days in Singapore-is this a good itinery of mustseesights

Hello dreamcatcher786,

Day 1.

Consider going to the Singapore Flyer after the Botanic Gardens. Then its a short walk to Gardens By The Bay. Note that the Garden Rhapsody is at 7:45 pm and it is free. Its a 10 minutes show.

The bridge is not the Helix. It's the Dragonfly Bridge located near the Dragonfly Lake at the Bay South Garden (all parts of the Gardens by the Bay).

If you can't make it for the 8pm show at MBS, there is another show at 9:30 pm.

The gondola ride is within The Shoppe at MBS. There is a TWG Cafe by the waterway. Imo, skip it.

Take a taxi to Haji Lane. You can have dinner at The Blu Jazz at Bali Lane or many other night spots at Arab Street.

Day 2

After Raffles Hotel, take a bus from Bras Basah Road (by the side of Raffles Hotel) bus no 700 or 162 or 128 or 131 and alight at OUE Bayfront. Walk to the Merlion Park, a short walk of about 5 minutes taking in the sights of Marina Bay, Fullerton Bay Hotel and One Fullerton.

From Merlion Park you can walk to Chinatown or take the MRT from Raffles Place to Tanjong Pagar. From Tanjong Pagar station, it is a short walk down Maxwell Road to Chinatown. You can then walk to Clarke Quay before taking the MRT from Clarke Quay station to Farrer Park station, back to your hotel.

My $0.02. Hope this helps.
