Would you be able to book a 6 hour block at the transit hotel on arrival? I think it's around $50 for the basic room. Gives your kids a chance to lie down and for you to go for a swim, get a shower & get some food etc.

Hello Casey H,

I would suggest you visit the Botanic Gardens.

http://www.sbg.org.sg

You can take bus no 7, 77, 106 or 174 from the bus stop in front of your hotel and alight 11 stops later. And its a short walk from there. You can also take a taxi from your hotel. This should help you with the route and fare.

There is the Jacob Ballas Garden for Children inside the Botanic Gardens which I think your children may enjoy. Here's a blog about it.

You can have a meal at the gardens before heading back to the hotel.

Alternatively, the national museum is just down the road, although this may not appeal to your children.

There is a Kopitiam Foodcourt just across the road near the Rendezvous Grand Hotel.

My $0.02. Hope this helps.

Mankster, the swimming pool is currently closed for upgrading. Will re-open in March.

I try to avoid sleeping during the day, but would get to bed fairly early. Two reasons, first I reckon it helps me to get adjusted to the new time zone quicker. Second, I'm on holiday, and I'm too excited to sleep!

I think I'd head to Sentosa. A fairly lazy day looking round the island and enjoying the beaches. There's a bit more breeze on the beaches than in the city, which helps me cope with the steamy heat on the first day.
