Hello,

This article in the link below lists all your transport options from Changi Airport. Taxi will be fastest. The Airport Shuttle will drop you right at the hotel. It costs Sgd$9 per adult and Sgd$6 per child (between the ages of 3 and 12 years. Children under 3 travel free).

Hello Chirag S,

The Farrer Park MRT station is just across the road from Tai Hoe Hotel and taking the MRT is the most economical but taking the taxi is the most convenient. At 8am, you will arrive during peak hours. You should be able to leave the airport around 8:30-8:45 am. At that time traffic will be heavy and the MRT will be very crowded. If you're thinking of staying around the airport until after peak hours , say around 9:30am, I would still not recommend it.

The most direct route to Kitchener Road via the MRT is to take the EW line and transfer to The NE line at Outram Park and alight at Farrer Park MRT (at the basement of City Square Mall) which is across the road from the hotel. Dragging around your luggage with 2 children in tow is not easy as it involves quite a walk between the two platforms.

So, take a taxi. If you really want to, you can take the MRT on the way out.

Sorry, there was a typo. I meant:

Taking a taxi/airport shuttle is always the most convenient and saves time. In our case, taxi will probably be cheaper than or same as airport shuttle ($30). The nearest MRT station is quite a SHORT distance from Tai Hoe BUT with children and luggage, I would not recommend it.

Hello Singapore Nancy,

We shall be arriving at 7.15 AM on Changi Airport and after Baggage clearance it shall be 8.00 am max considering the efficiency of Airport Staff at Changi.

Will you recommend from "economical perspective" to prefer MRT against Taxi / Shuttle which costs SG$30.

Kindly guide.

Take a taxi to have a great start to your vacation. MRT would involve 2 interchanges to Farrer Park and it may be inconvenient if you have luggage and children in tow.

Hi Chirag S,

The MRT from the airport is a spur line of the NE line. Once it reached Tanah Merah station you will have to transfer to the main line going to the city. The main line comes from Pasir Ris, a major residential estate. Before reaching Tanah Merah station, it will pass Tampines (another major residential estate) and Simei (a residential estate too). Tanah Merah itself is also a part of the Bedok residential estate. That should give you an idea of how crowded the trains are with commuters trying to reach their offices in the CBD by 8:30 -9 am. And the train will still pass a few other residential estates like Eunos and Kallang before reaching stations in the CBD namely City Hall, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar and Outram Park. At such times not only are the trains crowded but also the stations especially stations that are interchanges.

I think you are flying in from KL? So there is no jet lag issue. But do consider. No doubt MRT is more economical but taxi is more comfortable, convenient and faster especially with luggage and children.

The pass covers unlimited rides on public buses and MRT, not airport shuttle. The pass is convenient as you don't have to top it up and there is no non-refundable card fee. It is worthwhile depending on your usage.

Public buses are not designed for people with luggage especially big bulky ones. If you are travelling light, you can take the MRT to Eunos Station and take bus service no. 21 (bus stop opposite Eunos Station) which stops in front of Tai Hoe (15 stops later).
