Marina Bay Sands to everywhere - by taxi?

Let's face it, until Bayfront station opens in 2012, the MRT is pretty useless if you're staying at Marina Bay Sands.

I plan to visit Sentosa, Jurong BirdPark, and Singapore Zoo (potentially on different days), as well as the Marina Bay sights, and of course Orchard Road and hopefully the Southern Ridges, and Clarke Quay.

Some of these destinations do not even have a MRT station close by, such as Jurong East being nowhere near the Birdpark and requiring a further bus trip.

From MBS, I plan to take a taxi to virtually all of these destinations, especially the zoo and birdpark.

I know there is a surcharge from MBS, but can anyone give a rough estimate of how much it would cost to get to Jurong Bird Park, and Singapore Zoo?

I will use the MRT to Harbourfront (and Clarke Quay on the way back), but from MBS which MRT station is best to get on the purple line to Harbourfront?

This site lets you plug in X to Y instructions and gives taxi, bus etc pricing.

http://gothere.sg/maps

Its slightly less friendly than it used to be for directions but I think they integrated their entire site recently.

So plug in Singapoore Zoo to MArina Bay Sands and the time and it will give prices. Zoo and Birdpark will be around 15-20SGD plus surcharges for peak times and ERP gantries.

To get to Harbourfront I guess the closest will be to get to Harbourfront may well be Promenade on the Circle line across to Dhoby Ghaut and then to the purple line at that interchange, the other option is across to the Green Line at City Hall or Raffles Place and then change at Outram Park to the Purple line but Im alittle hazy on the easiest route to an MRT station from MBS - actually the gothere site says 97 bus from MBS to Tanjong Pagar station and then change at Outram Park.

The walk over the Helix bridge to Promendade MRT station is not too bad 6-8min. Stop by the flyer or the excellent Food trails food court at the bottom of the flyer. From Promenade, you can take the circle line to Dhoby Ghaut for the North East Line (purple).

I think you can refer to the MBS website for transport options. Additionally, you can take the water taxi to Clarke Quay.

marinabaysands.com/Company-Information/…

Circle Line (by foot): Exit at Promenade MRT Station and take a 10-minute walk from the station to Bayfront Avenue via the pedestrian footpath adjacent to the public road.

Circle Line (by bus): Exit at Promenade MRT Station and board the public buses (SBS 133, SBS 97, SBS 97e, SMRT 106) from bus stop along Temasek Ave outside the station.

North South Line: Exit at Marina Bay MRT Station and board the public buses (SBS 133, SBS 97, SBS 97e, SMRT 106) from the bus stop opposite the station.

North South Line: Exit at Raffles Place MRT Station and board the public bus (SBS 97) at the bus stop opposite Ogilvy Centre along Robinson Road or at the bus stop in front of The Sail along Marina Boulevard.

Bear in mind that taxi fares are very rough estimates. We made numerous trips to various places in Singapore by taxi, and the fares from and to the same place always varied, sometimes by as much as double. While I believe that the taxis are honest, there are so many ways to go, and so many add on charges depending on route and time of day, and traffic congestion, that it is impossible to predict. As an example, we had people in our party pay from $13 to $25 for a trip from downtown to the zoo, at roughly the same time, in separate taxis.

That's the consequence to stay at MBS, it's on a reclaim land (man made land) so there won't be MRT running below it ever. Anyway taxi fare in Singapore relatively cheaper than other country.

^^ That's clearly not correct as Bayfront MRT Station is already built next to MBS. Promenade and Marina Bay stations are already up and running - all built on reclined land.

Have you ever been to Marina Bay Sands? The MRT station is right there between the Casino and the Hotel, but it is only supposed to open next year.

i stayed in MBS and once u reached marina square, it's a pleasant walk to cityhall mrt as it's sheltered n air conditioned. or u can catch a cab there. thought u have to change to another cab again, it's a smooth ride during off peak and many taxi to catch.

Hi Clackers2011,

Bus 97 (from the bus stop on the Hotel's side) will take you directly to the doorstep of Vivocity/Harbourfront. Journey takes only 15-20 minutes. From Vivocity, you can take the express rail to Sentosa (from Vivocity 3rd floor)
