Shopping

We are in Singapore 27th to 30th July staying in the Regent off Orchard Road. is there a thing called the Big sale on? We would like to do some shopping but not really wanting to look at Chanel etc. Looking at watches(Fossil and Police), clothes and shoes and generally anything electrical. Some interesting shopping would be nice for window shopping.

Two teenage boys so electronics, anything that looks like Comic-con merchandise would be good for them.

hi ex-oz. the great singapore sale is ending. nearby shopping for clothes would be along orchard road, wisma atria, 313@somerset are good places. theres also the marina stretch whereby includes, marina link mall, suntec city, milennia walk, and marina square.

for watches theres are also found along these stretch.

bugis has lots of clothes as well.

for electronics do have a look at funan mall. challanger is a good shop.

and for general electronics, department shops like best denki, harvey norman

as for the boys, they can have a look at funan, or mabe this list reccomended by @checkers

and also they may be interested in arcades

like in bugis theres this underground arcade, quite big. do look for the escalator down near the taxi stand.

bugis plus also has an arcade at the higher floors.

You will see the shopping malls around your hotel. Research more about Orchard Rd, or check out Singapore Tourism official website for Great Singapore Sale period.

Thank you for your advice. I did do some research but thought that the personal and first hand experiences of tripadvisor folk would be helpful.

I know the person has probably gone, but just for future viewers: ugh not Sim Lim. There are reputable sellers there but no, please. Too many cases of people not receiving what should be in the box, etc.

If you're looking for a camera to purchase here that is below recommended retail price, google for a list of reputable shops who know what they are selling instead of generic electronic stores. I purchased a Sony camera for $100 less than RRP at one of the shops recommended, and they threw in a couple of freebies I would never actually get elsewhere.

There are a few in SLS and Funan definitely, but just be careful.

You're most unlikely to be able to buy much in Singapore that is cheaper than the UK, electronics, cameras and watches are all likely to be less expensive in the UK.

Singapore is great for shopping, fantastic malls and great service, they don't grunt at you like they do at home, but sadly the exchange rates really put the mockers on any ''bargains'' these days.

Enjoy. alan
